You may have heard that the U.S. Government is the world’s largest consumer of goods and services. It’s true -- the government does indeed purchase all types of products and services ranging from the highly technical to everyday items such as paper clips and lawn mowing services -- and government agencies spend billions buying from small businesses just like yours.
You may also have heard that doing business with the government involves a lot of “red tape” -- and that can also seem true if you don’t know how the government buys. There are hundreds of different agencies at the federal, state and local level and it can be challenging to determine which agency buys what you are selling and to learn how to get your foot in the door.
That’s where the University of Houston Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) comes in. The PTAC, a specialty center of the UH SBDC Network, can help you understand the government marketing process, and help you find and respond to contract opportunities for your company.
